You won't see your own footprints anymore
After hearing the initial response to the new Footprints feature, the one thing that many user requested was to hide their own footprints. So from now on, you won't show up on your own footprints page anymore! Also, I'm working on getting username footprints ready, so look for it soon.

i luvvvvvvvv u guys. i dont like when people come visit my xanga and i dont know who they are
when will we stop seeing our own footprints. Right now, I see:

Ohio /lvirden/486042636/more... http://dash.xanga.com/ 12:20 PM
as the top 4 entries - and those dash.xanga.com entries are me...
yay thanks! haha but i'll be disabling the footprints function. i'm ninja.
Wow I didnt even know this feature existed!
yeah, it's really cool, but i agree with lvirden, it's a little hard to track, especially when you have xanga lock on. i would like to see the usernames of the people that are being tracked because if i have xanga lock and the footprints then i should be able to see everyone that comes and goes to my site. thanks!
krystina
hey...my names haley..well...how do you get a tracker on your page? i really wanna see who comes in and like looks at my stuff cuz i dont want any stalkers...lol...comment me back,,,k? thanx lots and bunches!!
<3haley
Great Work -- Thanks!
hi..can you help me to do the footprint?
how accurate is the footprint bizz?
Adding the ability to delete previously posted comments would extremely helpful!!
Hiding footprints? That would make footprinting useless. Well, for my purposes it would.
Good call.
cool pictures on ur last post...it looks like hard work lol
Funny thing, whenever you introduce a new feature, shortly afterwards you always congratulate yourselves on the overwhelmingly positive feedback. The majority rules, right?
Its ok for all of you to leave a footprint from "Texas" or from "Saigon" but when I leave a footprint, its a bit different. I may well be your only blogger from the island I live on. Certainly I am the only blogger in my Xanga community even from the Caribbean. So it takes away all anonymity from me and leaves me and my family who are a bunch of high-profile politicos, and my friends, who are pretty much criminals - pirates, arms dealers, money launderers, drug smugglers, lawyers and other unsavoury but interesting characters, open to the nutters of the world who think they are the police or just feel like being threatening. There's a lot of them out there!
What I would like is to be able to surf showing my user name and not where I am from or, ideally, neither.
Otherwise its proxies and that is ok, but none of the support getting profile pics, which isn't a biggie, but sad.
hi. can you tell me more about the referrer column of the footprints. just curious to know.
Yo, I got a footprint from Michigan with the following URL: http://www.xanga.com/ThePhilosopherCafe/486697055/suggest-a-topic.html?del=1080421103
Does it leave a footprint when I delete comments?
love it
I was wondering if there was a feature to block certain xanga users from actually "looking" at your site even though they are logged in with a xanga account??? I keep seeing a couple of names on my footprints that are ALWAYS on my page but when I go to their pages they have nothing on their site. I know that the xanga lock is supposed to give you the option of allowing non xanga users to view your site...but what about the option of not allowing certain xanga users to VIEW your site??? I think that the stalkers that google your name to look at your site without signing in have found a new way to still be a damn stalker LOL I also know about the protected posting BUT if all of your post are protected you lose out on getting new subcribers to your page when you can just block those who you dont want to see it. Can you help PLEASE?????
please hurry with the username footprints!
Thz4 correctin that! It was pretty confusin.
great jobon the footprints...
as for pictures - that's another problem. when I write my blog and choose to add pics - I can't delete or move them around. I have to delete my new weblog and do it again. Could you look into it please? =P But congrats - the pics is such a nice feature.
Another comment: my friend, ltw5150, sees footprints on Dash, but when she clicks to view the footprints, it says she has none. Can you help?
i'll leave you the same note i left mary.
there's still not a link on my page for this.
there's still no explanation as to why i'd get hit after hit after hit from nevada. last week was virginia.
i still don't get it.
i know people have been to my site yet it's not showing up?
but people i don't know...there's no point in showing me "who" if it shows nothing about them.
nevada?
oh and it'd be nice if there were a way to clean up the feedback log to remove what we don't use. (ie: nudges and friends and memories...) (just a suggestion, mind you.)
Thank you... it's always a pleasure to provide you guys constructive feedback. In the end, we all benefit. =]
On my private user home, footprints sometimes shows up in the feedback module and sometimes it doesn't.
Dan
Next thing ya knows, Lucky will want peace on earth.........
Is there a way for people to not find your site by typing your username on a search engine, like Google or Yahoo?
first I want to say how much I love all the work you guys do to xanga, it is by far one of the best sites. So my question is on the footprints, I keep having something say the person that was at my site was named bloglines.com do you know what that means?? and when I click the page they viewed it said my name and that I have chosen not to use rss feeds. I dont understand that at all. If you get a chance to answer this I would appreciate it. thanks, debi
Thanks for this new feature. I am really glad that my own footprints won't show up on my own site anymore. Great job!
Carolyn
My footprints have begun to appear again - notice the dash references?

how do I get the footprints log to show up on my main screen?
I'd love it to show IP addresses too Dave pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
Cheers
Cuth
Actually - I would like to be able to see my own footprints.
Even better would be a way to see my own logged-in access to my Xanga with originating IP addresses. Like this:
Your Logged Access:
WHEN IP PROVIDER
07/10/2006 07:13:03 PST 192.181.32.101 comcast.net
07/09/2006 19:40:09 PST 164.135.18.106 verizon.net
07/09/2006 19:00:03 PST 192.181.32.101 comcast.net
07/08/2006 08:10:03 PST 192.181.32.106 comcast.net
That way, a user could see whether his/her logged in xanga site was being accessed from other machines -- ie, cached passwords on a machine in another location. Like work. Not that anyone would be that dumb, right?
Is there anyway for someone to get this data, say, for the week of 6/17?
Hi..not sure if you'll see this...I saw a place to go to stop google search from appearing in footprints...turned it on and I still get them..can't find the place to go and try to change it again..? Was hoping you could help..apppreciate it in advance...take good care...Lee
There seems to be quite a number of "footprints" for my pages that are related to something just reading a page and then visiting
all the links on that page. As a result, it is very difficult
to view the "humans" visiting the page.
Have you considered perhaps having some sort of footprint option
that consolidates multiple hits from the same IP into one line,
indicating that "NNN pages were accessed by ip nnn.nn.nnn.nn",
perhaps as a hyperlink in case someone wanted to just go and look at them all?
how do i block someone else from seeing mines?
I pressed the "anonymous" button for foot prints not knowing that it will not let me see people who come to my site. Is there any way to be able to see it back? I changed the setting back to so I won't be anonymous, but I'm still not able to see my foot prints.
