  • potential office??

We just looked at a bunch of office spaces in downtown San Francisco and this is the one that we unanimously agreed was our favorite.  With the real estate market bottomed out in San Francisco, we can afford an awesome space.  This office is amazing, huge windows on all 4 walls, tall ceilings, tons of great restaurants all around, all right in the heart of downtown San Francisco.

  • Looking for some good hackers

It's been over a year since I left Xanga to work on my own startup

We're heading to downtown San Francisco tomorrow to look at a couple of potential offices.  Our Palo Alto office is nice, but the city is more exciting.  3000 sq. feet will be quite a lot of space for 4 people, but we're planning on filling it quickly.  If you have a passion for cutting edge web technology and want to be a part of the real-time revolution, maybe you should work us.

  • Messing with a perv

I've been working on my project out of this great coffee shop by my apartment for a while now.  When I was there on Monday, I noticed a creepy looking older man watching porn on his laptop.  I decided to mind my own business and went on doing my work.  When I came back yesterday, that man was there again, watching porn with his headphones on.  He wasn't being very discreet about it, I could see his screen easily.  Also it wasn't as if he just popped onto a porn site to take a break or something.. he was watching streaming videos for the duration of the time he was there, probably 3-4 hours.  So I decided to do something about it, I decided to get rid of him without having to make a scene.

This is where WireShark comes in.  It's a packet sniffer for seeing anything that goes through a local network.  With it I was able to filter out the http packets flying around and pinpoint ones coming from milf***.com and hairyp****.com and figure out what IP and MAC address this guy's laptop was.  At this point I could simply spoof my own laptop's MAC address and IP to his and it will effectively knock him off the network.  But this wasn't a good or permanent solution.  Luckly the wireless router at the place had a very easy to guess password.  With access to the gateway, I was able to block his MAC address completely from connecting to the wireless network.

    What would you have done?

  • Cats!

I would like to introduce you to my new friends, Tee and Coby.  My roommate and I each got a kitten a few weeks ago from an animal rescue in our neighborhood.  They are sisters and were both rescued from a flooded animal shelter after the freak tornado hit Brooklyn last month.  After being in their new home for just a few days, they have warmed up to us and are the friendliest kitten ever.

The grey one is Tee and she's my roommate's.  My cat is named Coby, named after Kurt Cobain.

Thanks to Xinergy for bringing me a pet crate all the way across the country!!

  • What's the most mischievous thing you remember doing as a child?

In the 5th grade, I found the circuit breakers to my entire
school in a closet behind the boy's bathroom.  For about a week, I went
in there after lunch every day and turned off the school's power.  It
caused quite some chaos in the hallways when everything went dark.  I
decided to do it one last time before moving onto something more fun,
that was the day the janitor caught me.

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

  • Six Weird Things

Xinergy, Vikas, and John tagged me, so here are some weird things about me:

    • I enjoy dangerous activities such as riding a fixed gear bike in the streets of New York.  Some related interests include giving people who are hailing cabs high-fives and skitching (grabbing onto a car and leeching their gas powered energy).
    • I love eating apples with hot sauce.
    • I am addicted to receiving packages in the mail.  Sometimes I order stuff online just so it comes in the mail.
    • If I'm ever in the office on the weekend and there's nobody else here, I crank up the music and rock out.
    • I know how to knit.
    • I want to compete in a buffalo wing eating contest, I think I could do pretty well.

For those of you that I tagged, post 6 weird things about yourselves.

  • Nintendo Wii!!

I picked up my Nintendo Wii today, along with Zelda and Call of Duty 3!  After playing for the last 4 hours, I have to say, the Wii has surpassed all of my expectations.  This is one incredible video game system.  This is all I have time to write, must get back to my Zelda quest.

The Wii in its attention drawing bag.  I was afraid that I would get robbed as soon as I left Toys R' Us.
